Dianne started painting with oils as a teenager after she had finally saved enough money to purchase 5 tubes of paint. She did not have enough to purchase a brush so she used what she had, her fingers and rolled bits of paper. Painting on cardboard or wood because canvas was too costly, she perfected her craft. Dianne continues to paint the same way today and her pictures are instantly recognized as "Dengel's" from of their warm, caring subjects whether it is children frolicking in a swimming hole or an elderly couple going through an attic trunk recalling memories.
